“We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future.  It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance.”
Marcel Proust

Life is so uncertain…I had not realized until July 28, 2010, a gloomiest day in the history of Islamabad, when Air Blue,a Pakistani airline, passenger aircraft crashed into beautiful hills of Margalla and lives of 152 individulas were lost in no time.  The night before was the “night of blessings and clemency” or otherwise known as (Shab-e-Barat.)People must have prayed for themselves and for their loved ones’  health, well being, long lives and ask for forgiveness for their mortal and immortal sins with the strong belief that “ALLAH IS MERCIFUL” which is indeed true but who knew that the next morning would bring darkness and their loved ones, friends, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, children will depart for the eternal world leaving them behind in this temporary world.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace and may God Almighty give their families the strength to cope with the loss.

There are many unanswered questions about this tragedy:  who is responsible for the tragic accident –   the pilot or the Air Traffic Controller or was it a mechanichal failure or, once again, the blame will rest on mother nature?

Countless questions and countless hypothetical answers, I would not like to blame anyone here without knowing all the details.  Nonetheless, I would just like to speculate what could have happened based on pilot’s last words.  The pilot was told to make one more round as the run way was not vacant for the flight to land and he did what he was asked to but then what made him go towards the Margalla Hills? But as it is said in urdu “ayee hui ko koi taal nahi sakta, bahana ban hi jata hai”, so , was this simply a divine excuse because their “time” was up in this world or something more to it?

I especially want to dedicate the following piece of writing to the victims of this tragic accident:

“Niklay thay apnay ghar sai azizon k dais ko

manzil k paas pohnchay to safeena ujar gya”

I pray may God Almighty forgive us for all our sins and keep us and our families safe and healthy. Ameen!

I also plea to our Government that PLEASE don’t let this case disappear or die with time like many others without fair investigation.
